Press and media

For tourism boards, PR teams, destination marketing organisations and fellow journalists. What we cover, how to pitch, and how we handle hosted travel.

Boilerplate

Spike Travel (spiketravel.com) is an independent travel publication founded in 2026. It publishes researched destination dossiers, itineraries, reviews, travel news and free planning tools. Every dossier shows the date its facts were last verified and lists its sources. The publication is independently owned, follows the SPJ Code of Ethics, and discloses hosted travel and partner links on the page where they occur.

What we cover

  • Destination dossiers: sourced briefings on cities, countries and regions, updated on a rolling schedule.
  • Travel policy and borders: visa and entry changes, electronic travel authorisations, tourist taxes, airline rule changes.
  • Reviews: travel insurance, luggage and gear, airlines, hotels, apps and eSIMs, with a stated basis for each review.
  • Itineraries and guides: day-by-day plans and how-tos built from the dossiers.
  • Deals: fares and packages an editor would book, with the terms spelled out.

Pitching us

Email press@spiketravel.com. Useful pitches tell us something our readers cannot get from a press release: a rule change with a date, a new route with fares, an opening with prices and hours, a development that changes how a trip is planned. We reply to every pitch we act on and most that we do not.

Things that will not work: requests to add a property to a dossier, offers of payment for coverage, and embargoes without a reason.

Hosted travel

We accept hosted visits, stays and experiences under the conditions in our editorial standards: no guarantee of coverage, no copy approval, no promise to withhold criticism, and a disclosure line on any page that results. Reviews with a rating are never hosted.

If those terms work for you, we are glad to talk. If a dossier is being updated for a destination you represent, we will tell you what we are checking and ask for official sources.

Accreditation and assignments

Our editor travels on assignment as working press. For accreditation letters, media passes and press-trip logistics, write to press@spiketravel.com with the event or destination, the dates and what you need from us. We can supply a letter of assignment on request, and we carry evidence of recent published work.
